Safety Leaders Program

"Safety Leadership"

Simple words for a complex concept. Developing leaders means giving your people tools and insights so they can grow as individuals while building the organisation. Creating a Safety culture is absolutely contingent on the effectiveness of your leaders.

The capability to achieve the many challenges facing organisations lies with its people. To achieve a safety culture, organisations have the resources; it is simply a process of effectively mobilising these internal resources to model appropriate safety leadership behaviours.

If Leadership is a skill, it can be learnt. If Safety is an attitude, it can be acquired through observing and modelling the behaviours of others.

At Lifelong Learning, we believe leadership is a learnt behaviour and can therefore be acquired through effective facilitation and coaching. We believe safety is an attitude that is contingent on the culture of the organisation being able to walk the talk or simply, operate from an ethical base. Evidence within contemporary leadership theory supports this thinking especially through the work of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Bernard Bass and his work with Transformational Leadership; both from an authentic and inauthentic perspective.

Transformational leaders truly empower their followers.

Safety leaders are those that are clear that what they say and do makes a difference. They care for the lives and safety of their crew and do not accept inappropriate or unsafe work practices - ever, without exception. The Lifelong Learning Safety Leaders program challenges current behaviours and attitudes identifying areas where behaviours are not aligned to safe work practices.

We've developed a program that works!

Lifelong Learning has built an experiential, creative approach to building sound safety leadership ability. We work through the OSH legislation and / or the MSIA aligning the legislation to workplace practices. We use an experiential visual approach to highlight deficiencies in organisational policy, planning and procedures and we explore, review and analyse Risk, Business Continuity and Crisis Management.
