The Developing Leaders Program

noticias.gifStep 3 - Workplace Relationships

Duration: 1 Day plus project work

Course Descriptor

Every time you have dealings with a colleague or contact, however briefly, you have the opportunity to link into a working relationship with him or her. Through this link, you each become potential sources of advice, practical help and new ideas for each other.

But your linked relationships aren’t linear, like a chain. They form a network, to which each new colleague or contact brings you links to his or her own network.

This session explores the notion of workplace relationships and what makes them effective.  As a leader you rely on your people and relationships to achieve workplace outcomes, so this topic is worth exploring and forms an integral part of effective leadership.

At the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify methods for gathering, conveying and receiving information and ideas
  • Describe the personal attributes required to develop trust and confidence in the workplace
  • List the benefits of building and maintaining networks and relationships
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage difficulties to achieve positive outcomes
