Communication

MBTI® and the Communication Process
Type in Action...

Duration: 3 hours

"Effective communication is the universally important ingredient
in working productively with others"

Course Goals:

This half-day workshop is designed to help participants gain a better understanding of why others communicate as they do and to become more aware of what participants can do to improve communication with others. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that participants learn to *speak multiple MBTI languages*, that is, to ensure that participants understand what is important to others and know how to speak their language.

"Hmmmmm, it feels cold in this room today...."

A simple statement, but some of us hear that statement as merely *information*... "hmmmm, does feel a little cool"and others hear *action*... "oh, let me turn the air conditioning down for you, or would you like me to get you your coat?" Just being aware of these differences immediately creates less angst in the communication process. Perhaps this is why, whenever you issue a directive, the person you are communicating with simply hears information, hence the reason no action occurs (much to your frustration)!

Course Content:

To develop greater awareness of the Jungian Mental Processes through:

  • exploring the communication styles of each function: S/N and T/F.
  • exploring how a preference for Sensing or Intuition might influence how people are persuaded.
  • using the four temperaments as a basis to explore giving and receiving feedback.
  • learning to structure feedback to maximise each temperament's contribution.
  • developing type flexibility by expanding MBTI communication stype repertoire.
