Time & Self Management
- identifying your "big rocks"

Duration: 1 Day

How often do you feel pressured by too much to do and too little time to do it in? Time runs away from you, or do you simply want to just get more things done? All of these scenarios suggest a need for better time management. Effective use of time, like any other resource, can be a managed, through the use of sound principles and a variety of techniques. This session will guide you through analysing your current time management techniques, heighten your awareness of potential time traps and help you become a -- Master of your time... rather than a Slave to it!

Course Goals:

To provide participants with the opportunity to explore sound methods and processes, including interpersonal skills, that are integral to effective self and time management.

Course Objectives:

Upon completing this session participants will be able to:

  • Identify current time usage and analyse time wasters
  • Identify and implement techniques to increase productivity through effective use of time
  • Create shared vision that creates unity among team members through identifying priorities
  • Minimise crises through effective planning
  • Focus on high-valued activities that will increase return on investment

Content:
This workshop is designed to explore time and self management within a model of scheduling priorities and the development of strategies for overcoming procrastination. It is based on the work of Stephen Covey – 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Habit number 3: Put first things first.

The session is highly experiential with a volunteer from the workshop participating in the ‘big rocks’ activity enabling all participants to decide on what their big rocks are. The workshop creates an awareness of scheduling priorities as opposed to prioritising schedules.
